Boy Charged After Emailing Bomb Threat To Police In Northern Westchester

A 13-year-old boy faces criminal charges after emailing a bomb threat to a police department in Northern Westchester, authorities announced.

The threat was sent to the Yorktown Police Department over email.

The arrest stemmed from an incident on Saturday, June 1 just before 10 a.m., when the Yorktown Police Department received a threatening message, the department announced on Monday, June 3.

The message stated that people at the Yorktown Police station would get shot up and a bomb would be planted somewhere near the building, according to the department.

An investigation into the message revealed that a 13-year-old boy had sent the threatening email. The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was arrested on Sunday, June 2, when a juvenile appearance ticket was served to his parent on his behalf.

The boy is charged with juvenile delinquency with an underlying charge of second-degree aggravated harassment. He will appear in the Westchester County Department of Probation on Wednesday, June 12.
